4x6 carving block

Transferred very easily with acetone and wintergreen- not with iron!

Getting ready to carve.  First impression- the block is dense.  At first I was Afraid it would scar easily.   That was not the case I was able to handle it without any issues.  There was no crumbling while handling or carving.

Cut super easily with a knife. Released wonderfully.  When using a gouge I rarely cut deep enough to get to the yellow layer.  The contrast was easy to see without hitting the yellow layer.

I used a standard 1v to do all gouge cuts.  Used a wire knife, exacto, and  20 gauge needle for knife cuts.  All of the knives cut very smoothly with out hesitation.

This is not the finished stamp, but this picture shows a better contrast on the material.  As you can see above I tried all the different blades in different areas.  Worked great.

Some notes:

There is no peeling in heat!

I did sliced cuts through several areas.  Not all the layers are the same thickness is all areas.

You could easily carve both sides.

Stamps great- perfect!
By far this is the best material I have tried for getting a really good stamped image without prep work.

Cuts like butter!

NOT ALL LAYED BLOCKS ARE THE SAME!
